Finding Wholesale Buyers and Suppliers in East Africa
Published
Kenya's Agriculture and Food Authority opened avocado harvesting for sea export on 2 April 2026, with packhouse inspection and a list of registered marketing agents required from exporters. The rules show what serious buyers look for. A practical guide to finding buyers and suppliers for specific goods in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, checking them, and contacting them directly.
In a notice dated 25 March 2026, Kenya's Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) set 2 April 2026 as the start of avocado harvesting for export by sea, made fresh export produce subject to packhouse inspection from 7 April, with applications at least three days before shipment, and told exporters to submit their registered marketing agents or suppliers by 30 March, The Star reported. Exporters or agents moving avocados on open pick-up trucks risk having their registration or licence revoked. For anyone selling to a serious buyer, in avocados or any other product, the lesson is the same: registration and traceability are what buyers check first.
HOW TO FIND BUYERS AND SUPPLIERS FOR A SPECIFIC PRODUCT
Search by product, role and place. Google's search suggestions, checked by Sontaq on 27 October 2026, show people looking for “avocado buyers in kenya”, “coffee buyers in uganda”, “maize buyers in uganda” and “wholesale suppliers in tanzania”: specific goods in specific markets. Describe your own need or offer the same way.
Start with sector bodies and regulators. In Kenya's avocado trade, AFA registers exporters and their marketing agents, and the Avocado Exporters Association of Kenya represents exporters. In Uganda, coffee oversight moved from the Uganda Coffee Development Authority into the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries in early 2025, so older coffee-authority directories may be out of date.
Check that the company exists. In Tanzania, the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) runs an online system for company and business-name searches; in Kenya, the Business Registration Service handles company registration and searches through eCitizen. A registered name is a start, not proof of good trading.
Agree the terms in writing: quantity, grade or specification, price, delivery point, who pays for transport and duties, and how and when payment is made. With a new partner, start with a sample or a small first order.
Sontaq does not hold stock, guarantee a buyer or seller, or take part in payment. The parties agree terms directly.
QUICK ANSWERS
How do I find buyers for my products in another country? Post your goods on Sontaq with the market where you want to sell, for example Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Sontaq shows buyers whose requests fit that market, and you contact them directly. Check each buyer yourself before you agree terms.
How do I find wholesale suppliers in Tanzania? Post a Buy request on Sontaq naming the goods, the quantity and the market, for example Dar es Salaam. Sontaq shows sellers whose posts fit; if none has posted, there is no match. Shipping and customs are agreed directly with the seller.
Can producers and farmers find buyer demand? Yes. Post what you sell, how much you have and where it is available. When a buyer posts a request that fits, Sontaq shows it as a match and you contact the buyer directly by WhatsApp, call or message.
Does Sontaq guarantee a buyer or a supplier? No. A match appears only when a relevant post exists in the same market. Naming a market does not mean buyers or sellers are already there.
Is it free? Posting what you need or offer, seeing relevant matches and contacting the other party are free on Sontaq's core marketplace.

Sontaq analysis
Wholesale buyers and suppliers are found the same way they are kept: by being specific and by being checkable. A post that names the product, grade, quantity and market reaches the right counterpart faster than a general advert, and a partner who can show registration and references is worth the extra day of checking. Sontaq's job is the first step, putting a specific need in front of a specific offer in the same market, and then the two parties deal directly. To start, open Sontaq, sign in with your WhatsApp number and choose “Buy Goods” or “Sell Goods”.
